CE Zoom

Overview

CE Zoom is a comprehensive platform primarily designed for managing and facilitating continuing education (CE) in various professional fields, with a strong focus on dental and medical professions. It serves both as a marketplace for CE courses and as a tool for compliance management and event coordination.

CE Course Marketplace: CE Zoom offers a wide range of continuing education courses, including live in-person, live virtual webinars, hybrid events, and self-study options like pre-recorded videos and article-based courses. This allows professionals to meet their licensure requirements conveniently through diverse learning formats.

The goal of the UI project was to redesign the look and feel of the CE Zoom platform, ensuring a modern and visually appealing interface while maintaining a strong focus on user-centric design. This initiative aimed to enhance the overall user experience by providing a sleek, intuitive, and easily navigable interface that aligns with contemporary design trends, yet remains accessible and functional for all users.

Process

1. Research and Discovery Phase

Objectives:

  • Understand current user needs and pain points.

  • Identify best practices in modern UX/UI design for educational platforms.

Actions:

  • Competitive Analysis: Analyze similar platforms (e.g., Coursera, Udemy) to understand their strengths and weaknesses in UX/UI design.

  • Data Analytics Review: Examine existing user data to identify patterns in usage and areas where users may struggle.

2. User Persona Development

Objectives:

  • Create detailed profiles of the typical CE Zoom user to guide design decisions.

Actions:

  • Persona Creation: Develop 3-4 personas that represent different user types (e.g., dental professionals, medical professionals, educational institutions).

  • Scenario Mapping: Outline user scenarios to understand how different personas interact with the platform and what their specific needs are.

3. Define UX/UI Goals

Objectives:

  • Establish clear goals for the redesign to ensure alignment with user needs and business objectives.

Actions:

  • User-Centric Goals: Ensure the new design is intuitive, easy to navigate, and meets accessibility standards.

  • Aesthetic Goals: Aim for a clean, modern look that reflects the platform’s professional nature.

4. Information Architecture (IA)

Objectives:

  • Organize content in a logical, user-friendly manner.

Actions:

  • Content Audit: Review existing content to determine what needs updating, consolidation, or removal.

  • Sitemap Creation: Develop a new sitemap that simplifies navigation and improves user flow.

5. Wireframes and Prototyping

Objectives:

  • Develop a visual framework for the new design.

Actions:

  • Low-Fidelity Wireframes: Create wireframes to layout basic structure and functionality without focusing on design details.

  • High-Fidelity Prototypes: Develop detailed prototypes incorporating visual design elements, allowing for user testing and feedback.

  • Creating as a primary step the landing page and main Dashboard for professionals who would be using the interface. Proceeding by creating different type of dashboards and sections for the different type of users (Admin, companies, DSO, Regulatory agencies, Trackers, etc.)

6. Feedback

Objectives:

  • Validate design decisions with real users and stakeholders to ensure usability and satisfaction.

Actions:

  • Usability Testing: Conduct testing sessions with users and stakeholders to identify usability issues and areas for improvement.

  • Iterative Feedback: Use feedback to make iterative changes to the prototypes before finalizing the design.

7. Visual Design and Branding

Objectives:

  • Apply modern design principles to create a cohesive and appealing look.

Actions:

  • Design System Development: Create a design system with guidelines for typography, color schemes, buttons, icons, and other UI elements to ensure consistency.

  • Responsive Design: Ensure the new design is responsive and works well on various devices and screen sizes.

8. Implementation and Development

Objectives:

  • Translate the design into a functional platform.

Actions:

  • Development Collaboration: Work closely with developers to ensure the design is implemented as intended, maintaining open communication to resolve issues quickly.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing to identify and fix any bugs or issues before launch.

Outcome

Ongoing Improvement

Objectives:

  • Continuously enhance the platform based on user feedback and technological advancements.

Actions:

  • User Feedback Loop: Regularly collect and analyze user feedback to identify areas for improvement.

  • Design Iteration: Update and refine the design to keep it aligned with user needs and industry trends
